The new President of the Republic of Benin Romuald Wadagni has paid an introductory visit to President Bola Tinubu.
Mr Wadagni arrived at the Lagos residence of the Nigerian President
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who received the visiting President on arrival led him to the residence of President Tinubu.
The meeting between the two leaders lasted about 30 minutes behind closed doors.
Following his victory in the April 12 presidential election, Mr Wadagni was inaugurated to Succeed president Patrice Talon on May 24, 2026.
President Tinubu delegated Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent him at the inauguration last weekend.
Benin Republic is the neighbouring country of Nigeria to the west and remains an ally in regional cooperation.
