Pregnant and breastfeeding women and a woman as well as four children have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity in Kaduna State.
The victims regained their freedom on Thursday, May 7, 2026, and returned home amid jubilation from residents of the Sabon Gyero community in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area.
Investigations revealed that ransom payments and motorcycles were allegedly delivered to the kidnappers in exchange for the release of the victims.
Sources further disclosed that one of the pregnant women had earlier regained her freedom about three weeks ago, while the remaining six victims returned home on Thursday.
It would be recalled that armed bandits attacked the Sabon Gyero community during the four last days of the Ramadan, killing one person and abducting seven others.
The gunmen also attacked a phone charging centre in the area, where they killed a young man identified as Abdullahi Lawal, popularly known as “Kurma.”
Dokan Mai-Jama’a, Sabon Gyero, Kyauta and Dan Hono II communities in Millennium City, neighbouring communities to Sabon Gyero, have suffered similar attacks several times this year.
