A legal dispute involving a media organization and key broadcasting stakeholders has come before the High Court of Taraba State, sitting in Jalingo.
The case, filed by Arewa 24 Network Limited against the Registered Trustees of the Northern Broadcast Media Owners Association and others, came up before Justice Nuhu Adi at Court Number Two of the Jalingo Judicial Division, on Wednesday, 6th May, 2026.
Notice of Preliminary Objection challenging the competence of the suit.
The application, brought under Order Eleven Rule One of the Taraba State High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2026, urges the court to strike out or dismiss the case because it is incompetent.
Addressing newsmen in Jalingo, shortly after the proceedings, the Counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister (Dr.) Ibrahim Effiong, who was present in the court as proceedings continued, said the matter was already listed for hearing on a motion and injunction concerning the defendant, which, in one way or the other affects the interest of the plaintiff, and the the counsel to the repondent told the court that he was not prepared, and therefore, asked for a little time to respond, and therefore agreed.
Meanwhile, the proceedings, counsel to the defendants, Barrister Bilyaminu Lukman Maihanci, informed the court that, “The issue is not yet ready for hearing, as the Court are now using the e-filing process, and the case was received lately”.
The court hearing on arguments on the preliminary objection has been adjourned to the next sitting, scheduled to hold on the 6th June, 2026.
