Nigeria Police Force in Kebbi State says it has arrested 47 suspects linked to violent crimes, including armed robbery, banditry and motorcycle snatching across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadejia, disclosed this during a quarterly media briefing at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
He said the Command had intensified security operations since his assumption of office and established a Violent Crimes Response Unit approved by the Inspector-General of Police.
According to the Commissioner, the Command recovered 40 stolen GSM phones, alongside SIM cards and other communication devices allegedly used by criminal groups, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis.
CP Hadejia said police operatives also arrested two suspected bandits identified as Aliyu Hussaini from Minna in Niger State and Sani Abubakar from Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Recovered items included 36 rounds of live ammunition, one rifle magazine, a Bajaj motorcycle, ₦264,000 cash, mobile phones, SIM cards and memory cards.
He further explained that another suspect, Hussaini Abubakar, alongside an accomplice identified as Ukasha Bande, allegedly attempted to snatch a motorcycle from one Nasiru Alhassan after attacking him with a sharp object.
The victim is receiving treatment at Ambursa Hospital, while the suspects have been arrested and the case remains under investigation.
The police command also recovered a cache of weapons, including 10 AK-47 rifles, eight fabricated AK-47 rifles, two Mack-four rifles, revolver guns, Dane guns and locally made pistols allegedly linked to some Chinese nationals.
In addition, the Command recovered 1,229 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, 29 rounds of machine-gun ammunition, 40 live cartridges and several empty rifle magazines. Seven stolen motorcycles were also recovered, while 15 others had already been returned to their owners.
CP Hadejia added that security operatives, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, recovered 33 rustled cattle during an operation along the Kamba-Kangiwa Road in April 2026, where one suspected bandit was neutralised and Eight additional cattle were later recovered during a follow-up operation in Kangiwa.
The Commissioner commended security operatives and residents for supporting ongoing efforts to tackle crime in Kebbi State and advised commercial motorcycle operators against transporting suspicious persons to isolated locations.
