In an effort to enhance civil-military relations, the 44 Army Reference Hospital has organised a prevalence disease awareness campaign on the dangers of high blood pressure, in some communities in Kaduna.
Declaring the campaign open, Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Colonel Augustine Omogbethai said the campaign was aimed at minimizing the surge of high blood pressure amongst people.
Colonel Augustine Omogbethai who disclosed that the campaign had the approval of the Army Chief, also said that it was aimed at building confidence and trust among the civil populace, with a view to facing criminal elements who have become threats to the peace and stability of the country.
He explained that the hospital conceived the idea considering the recent surge in cases of hypertension in the country, describing it as a killer disease.
The Chief Medical Director pointed out that at the end of the exercise, it is expected that the rate of hypertension and stroke would be reduced to the bearest minimum, and that people would be well equipped on what they need to know on the killer disease.
According to Colonel Omogbethai, two million people are expected to benefit from the gesture which is incorporated with a medical outreach programme.
In a remark, district head of Badiko community, Alhaji Usman Sani commended the management of the hospital for the gesture.
He urged people in the area to take advantage of the campaign by trooping out en masse.
Other areas that are expected to benefit from the campaign include Kurmin Mashi, Anguwan Sanusi, Kakuri, Makera amongst others.
