Kaduna State Government says workers welfare and dignity will continue to be top priority for productivity to achieve optimum performance.

Governor Uba Sani stated this during the 2026 Workers’ Day in kaduna

Uba Sani said since assumption in office, his administration had made deliberate efforts to strengthen relationships with labour Union recognizing that meaningful progress could  only be achieved through cooperation and mutual understanding

The Governor noted as part his efforts to reduce hardship for workers and retirees he has recently approved the release of N4.289 billion for the payment of pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits to retired civil servants and families of deceased workers across Kaduna State and Local Government services.

The approval covers obligations under the Contributory Pension Scheme (Accrued Rights) as well as the Defined Benefit Scheme, reflecting the administration’s commitment to clearing outstanding liabilities and strengthening social protection for senior citizens.

He noted that other initiatives introduced by his his administration includes
free CNG bus transporting workers, retirees and other citizens across strategic corridors in the state with a view to reduce economic hardship being faced by some residents.

The governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to accountability and protection of workers rights.

Addressing workers at the event in Murtala Square Kaduna, Uba Sani described labour as the engine room of governance and development,noting that mental well-being, job security, and fair wages are critical to productivity.

He said the government would continue to prioritise economic empowerment, improved security, and human capital development to address poverty and workplace challenges.
