The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, has called on newly elected officials of the Alumni Association of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Katsina State Branch, to compile a comprehensive directory of all members.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara made the call during the Association’s Annual General Meeting and swearing-in ceremony of newly elected officials, led by Alhaji Bashir Bala Zango, held in Katsina.
He expressed concern over the low turnout of members at the meeting, noting that the association is estimated to have over ten thousand members across the state.
He attributed the poor attendance to the absence of a functional membership database and inadequate awareness efforts by the association’s leadership.
The District Head stressed that maintaining an updated and detailed directory would enhance communication, improve coordination, and ensure effective dissemination of information among members.
Earlier, the immediate past Chairman of the association, Dr. Gali Darma, presented his annual report and appreciated members for the opportunity to serve two consecutive terms.
The newly elected officials include Alhaji Bashir Bala Zango as Chairman, Abdullahi Lawal as Vice Chairman, Hauwa Darda’u Rafin Dadi as Secretary General, Muntari Lawal as Assistant Secretary General, Samaila Dangani as Public Relations Officer, and Hajiya Badiya Lawal Danbo as Financial Secretary.
Administering the oath of office, the Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, who is also a member of the association, urged the new executives to uphold integrity and demonstrate commitment in the discharge of their duties.
Justice Abubakar further advised the leadership to intensify membership drives through strategic engagements, including courtesy visits to government agencies and tertiary institutions across the state, with a view to strengthening the association’s membership base.
Other distinguished alumni attended the Annual General Meeting.
