The Association of Local Government of Nigeria ALGON Nasarawa State Chapter has thrown their support for Governor Abdullahi Sule’s endorsement of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ALGON Chairman, Safiyanu Isah Andaha who disclosed this while briefing journalists in lafia, said, the association’s position regarding the recent political developments in the state is a demonstration of commitment as critical stakeholders who are always ready to perform noble duty.

He explained that the main reason for the briefing was to intimate the public of ALGON’s position as key stakeholders and grassroots leaders on the recent endorsement of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the preferred candidate of the state government in the forthcoming APC primaries.
Safiyanu Isah Andaha said the association had no reason to doubt that the governor’s choice was in the best interest of the state, describing Senator Wadada as the most suitable candidate to lead the APC to victory and sustain the development momentum recorded under Sule’s administration.
“After wide consultations with our constituents, we wish to say that we are unanimously and unequivocally in support of the choice of our hardworking and patriotic leader, Governor Abdullahi Sule,” he stated.
“We are all agreed that Senator Wadada is the most suitable candidate, not only to lead our great party, the APC, to victory at this material time, but that he also has all the experience to continue with the unprecedented positive momentum of development the state has witnessed in the almost eight years of APC leadership with His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, as the chief steward,” he said.
He expressed confidence that with Wadada as Sule’s successor, Nasarawa State would continue to rise as a peaceful, economically and politically leading state in Nigeria.
The ALGON Chairman acknowledging that other APC aspirants were “eminently qualified and blessed politically, nothing that only one person is destined to occupy the seat in 2027,.and appealed for maturity, discipline, and loyalty from all party members as the primaries approach.
“We appeal to all members of the APC, especially the eminent aspirants, to demonstrate these qualities as we proceed to the party’s primary election. We appeal to all governorship aspirants in the party to put aside their personal interest and to control their ambition. The supremacy of the party should continue to determine our actions,” Safiyanu said.
He added that, APC is large enough as a political party that can accommodate the realistic interests of its members urging patience among members until their ambitions are fulfilled.
Safiyanu Isah Andaha reiterated the ALGON’s total support and loyalty to Governor Abdullahi Sule and commended him for uplifting the status of the state in seven years of his stewardship.
“Majority of people in the state are evidently satisfied with the achievements recorded by the administration, and the good memories of purposeful leadership will remain with the people long after he might have completed his tenure,” he said.
He concluded by reassuring the governor of the association’s continued support till the last second of his tenure, adding that his exemplary leadership qualities would serve as a legacy for his successor.
in a related story, the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress APC Professor Abdulkarem Abubakar Kana has declared interest in the Nasarawa West Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Professor Abdulkarem Abubakar made this known in lafia when he led hundreds of supporters and party loyalists to the APC State Secretariat to formally notify the state leadership of his ambition.
The Deputy National Secretary of the APC who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, said that his decision to contest followed wider consultations and persistent calls from stakeholders across the five local government areas of Keffi, Karu, Kokona, Nasarawa, and Toto that make up the Nasarawa West Senatorial District.
“This is not a personal ambition, but a response to the collective voice of our people who believe I can offer effective representation at the Red Chamber.
“I have served the party at the national level with loyalty and integrity, and I am ready to bring that same dedication to serve my senatorial district,” he stressed.
The Deputy National Secretary of APC also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for the choice of Senator. Ahmed Wadada as his preferred successor and pledged his total loyalty to the governor and the party.
He further explained that Wadada is a worthy ambassador of the state and has always distinguished himself in every responsibility bestowed upon him.
“We will do everything possible to ensure that Wadada wins our party primaries as well as the general election to be the next governor in 2027,” he added.
Receiving the aspirant and his entourage, the Nasarawa State APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, commended Professor Kana for respecting the party structures and consulting them on his ambition.
He described Professor Kana as a disciplined party man whose loyalty to the party is not in doubt and urged him to exhibit maturity during the campaign period in the interest of the party.
