Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has donated fifty million naira to the family of the late Lieutenant Colonel OC Okolo, who lost his life during an attack at Mandaragirau in Biu Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor made the donation during the funeral service of the late officer held at Obinofia Ndiuno in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Governor Zulum, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier General Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (Rtd), said the gesture was part of his administration’s continued support to families of fallen heroes and wounded personnel in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting families of officers and men who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation, assuring that such visits and interventions would be sustained.

The Governor extended condolences to the bereaved family, describing the late Lieutenant Colonel Okolo as a gallant and dedicated officer whose contributions would not be forgotten.

He also prayed for strength to the family to bear the loss.

In a remark, a family representative, Professor Stanley Okolo, appreciated the governor for the support and solidarity shown, noting that the donation and presence of the delegation brought comfort to the family.

The funeral was attended by representatives of the Chief of Army Staff, senior military officers, members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, and members of the host community.

Governor Zulum had earlier donated one hundred and fifty million naira to families of three military officers who died in separate attacks across the state.
