Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has flagged off a vaccination exercise for intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.
The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Dutse.
According to him, the exercise is part of ongoing preparations for the 2026 Hajj, reaffirming the board’s commitment to prioritising the health and safety of pilgrims from the state.
Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo said, safeguarding the health of the state pilgrims was both a requirement and a responsibility of the board.
“This vaccination exercise underscores our readiness for a successful 2026Hajj. I urged all pilgrims to cooperate fully, adhere to health guidelines, as they prepare for this sacred journey.”
“I encourage you to be law-abiding and patient throughout the Hajj process. Please ensure attendance at all scheduled enlightenment lectures, as the lectures will provide essential knowledge on the rites of Hajj and practical guidance for the journey ahead”, Labbo stated.
Labbo who monitored the vaccination exercise, said the vaccination exercise would be a continuous process before their departure to the Holy land.
In his remarks, the Director of Operations of the state pilgrims board, Alhaji Muhammad Garba, reiterated the importance of abiding by the all laid down rules of the Saudi Arabian authorities in order to achieve the desired objectives
Also speaking, the head of Medical team, Dr. Abubakar Habib noted that, sufficient vaccines were supplied and will be administered to all prospective pilgrims in the state.
He highlighted the importance of the vaccines being administered, which include the meningitis, oral polio, and yellow fever vaccines.
“These vaccinations are mandatory under the health regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The yellow fever vaccine is valid for ten years, while the meningitis vaccine lasts three years. They are essential for protecting both individual and public health,” Dr Habib said.
Radio Nigeria reports that, the vaccination exercise is being conducted across all the 27 local government areas.
