The Deputy Governor of Kano State has resigned from office, according to a statement issued by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

In the statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement said the resignation was taken in the overall interest of the people and to ensure stability in governance within the state.

The statement explains that recent developments had significantly constrained the Deputy Governor’s ability to fully discharge the responsibilities of his office, making it necessary for the office to function optimally in the public interest.

It, however, clarifies that the resignation does not amount to an admission of the allegations levelled against the Deputy Governor by the Kano State House of Assembly, stressing that he maintains his innocence and stands by his record of public service.

It further discloses that the former Deputy Governor will now focus on strengthening the movement’s structure, rebuilding its strategies, and engaging in political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement also called on supporters and residents of Kano State to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to the ideals of democracy and good governance, assuring that further details would be communicated in due course.
