Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, has called on Muslims to intensify prayers during the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan, particularly through night prayers (Tahajjud), seeking divine intervention to end the protracted insecurity in the state.

Governor Zulum, who is currently in Saudi Arabia performing the lesser pilgrimage (Umrah), said he had joined other members of the Muslim Ummah in special prayers in the Holy Land for lasting peace in Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement, his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, said the Governor noted that the recent coordinated attacks by insurgents linked to Boko Haram should not weaken the resilience and unity of residents in confronting the common enemy.

The Governor also appealed to Christians observing Lent to join Muslims in praying for peace and stability.

While condoling families who lost loved ones in the recent attacks, Governor Zulum reassured residents that the Borno State Government would continue to support the military and other security agencies in the ongoing fight against insurgency and terrorism.
