Kano state house of Assembly has called on the State Government to extend the ongoing installation of streetlights from Maiduguri Road to Dawakin Kudu, Warawa and Wudil Local Government Areas.
The resolution followed a joint motion presented by members representing Warawa, Dawakin Kudu and Wudil constituencies during plenary presided over by the speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore in Kano.
The motion was moved by Labaran Abdul, Shuaibu Rabi’u and Ali Abdullahi, who argued that extending the solar streetlight project would enhance security, boost economic activities and promote infrastructural development in the affected areas.
They noted that the road serves as a major economic corridor linking several communities, stressing that criminal elements often take advantage of poor lighting to snatch vehicles and other valuables from motorists.
Similarly, the House adopted another motion urging the state government to construct a road from Yar Kawo to Yar Fulani in Tudun Wada LGA.
Other motions adopted include the construction of a road from Kwanar Aduwa to Kare in Bagwai/Shanono, as well as a separate road construction project in Albasu Local Government Area.
In a related development the house has committed the nomination of Isiyaku Sani as Council Secretary for Gwale Local Government Area to its House Committee on Local Governments for necessary legislative action.
The decision followed the formal presentation of the nomination during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
According to the Speaker, the committee is expected to screen the nominee and report back to the House for further consideration and possible confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
