He made the call at the National Curriculum Pre-Critique Workshop for the proposed National Diploma in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology, held at NIPHID, Saye, Zaria.

Dr. Dalhatu stressed the importance of designing a comprehensive curriculum that equips students to manage both existing and emerging infectious diseases.

He uged participants to take a broad, global perspective in their review, ensuring that the programme prepares students for future health challenges.

The DG also commended the NBTE and other partners for their commitment to improving technical education in the health sector.

In their separate remarks, Director of Curriculum Development at the NBTE, Oladipo Bello, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Khadija Musa, stressed the need for a skilled workforce to address emerging and re-emerging diseases such as cholera and Ebola.

They noted that the workshop provides a platform for scholars, stakeholders, and regulatory representatives to review and strengthen the curriculum, ensuring it is practical, globally relevant, and capable of producing ethical, knowledgeable, and responsive health professionals to improve disease prevention and control across Nigeria.

The workshop, organized by the National Board for Technical Education-NBTE in collaboration with the Public Health and Infectious Diseases Management Practitioners Association of Nigeria, aims to develop middle-level manpower to support surveillance, vaccination campaigns, and public health response nationwide.
