The First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajia Zainab Nasare-Nasir Idris, has lauded the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), for complementing the state government’s efforts in providing relief to vulnerable communities in Kebbi State.

She made the remarks while flagging off humanitarian relief support to vulnerable people in Kebbi State at the Government Warehouse, Bulaza, Birnin Kebbi.

According to her, the intervention is a demonstration of genuine solidarity with affected communities, particularly women and children who often bear the heaviest burden of displacement caused by armed attacks.

Speaking earlier, the Director-General of NEMA, Hajia Zubaida Umar, said that the intervention followed a joint assessment conducted with relevant stakeholders to ascertain the number of affected persons.

She added that the, the items are intended to cushion the immediate hardship faced by the affected households, and she called on the beneficiaries not to sell the items given to them but to use them judiciously.

In his remark, the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Alhaji Nasir Abubakar-Kigo, commended NEMA for the timely intervention.

Similarly, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Iliyasu-Bashir, represented by the Wazirin Gwandu Alhaji Abdullahi Umar, expressed gratitude for NEMA’s support, commended the state government’s initiatives, and urged the people to pray against insecurity in the state and the country in general.

The relief materials, provided by NEMA, comprise food and non-food items, including 1,400 bags of 25kg rice, 1,400 bags of 25kg maize, 1,400 bags of 25kg beans, clothes, and other essential items.
