Bandits have raided four villages in Dandume local government area of Katsina State killing eight persons and leaving eleven others with various degrees of injury.

The assailants who attacked Baraje, Kirijan, Shugu, Kauran Pawa and Unguwar Jika at midnight, also abducted one person and vandalized houses and business premises.

While the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command could not be reached for confirmation of the incident, multiple sources from the affected communities confirmed the attack to Radio Nigeria.

A resident of Baraje, Malam Nura, who spoke to Radio Nigeria via telephone narrated that the attackers arrived the village around twelve midnight as they flashed torch lights and fired random shots into people’s houses.

He explained that the remains of the deceased were buried while the wounded persons were receiving treatment at General Hospital Funtua.

The residents regretted that the attacks were a breach of the peace treaty entered last year by bandits and communities, with each party pledging to act in ways that will promote peace.
