The Zamfara State Government has completed the rehabilitation and upgrade of three frontline Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) under the 2024 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS).

The upgraded facilities are Kekun Waje Primary Healthcare Centre in Bungudu Local Government Area, Yankaba Primary Healthcare Centre in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, and the Women and Children Welfare Clinic in Bukuyyum Local Government Area.

In a statement, the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals to Governor Dauda Lawal, Dr. Aliyu Adamu Tsafe, said the facilities have been transformed into modern and fully functional healthcare centres.

According to him, the centres are now capable of providing 24-hour healthcare services and are equipped with modern medical facilities, renewable energy systems, constant water supply, and improved maternity services, including eight-bed maternity wards.

Dr. Tsafe noted that the intervention is aimed at strengthening community health systems, improving access to quality primary healthcare services, and accelerating Zamfara State’s progress towards Universal Health Coverage and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on good health and well-being.
