Executive Chairman of Kano State  Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Sa’idu Yahaya says the state government’s policy of granting full operational independence to the commission has strengthened its mandate to fight corruption and promote accountability.

Speaking at the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day commemoration lecture, held at government house Kano,Yahaya said the autonomy approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has enhanced the commission’s operational framework, boosted investigative capacity and sharpened its strategic focus.

He explained that internal reforms, including process re-engineering, advanced staff training, improved case management and stronger whistleblowing mechanisms, were already taking firm root.

The Chairman stressed that the reforms are intended to make the commission more proactive in preventing corruption and promoting ethical public service, especially as the state implements its trillion-naira budget.

Sa’idu Yahaya maintained that a vigilant and professional anti-corruption structure is necessary to protect public resources and ensure they are translated into real development outcomes.

He also highlighted this year’s theme, “Uniting with the Youth Against Corruption, Shaping Democracy’s Integrity,” describing it as a reminder of corruption’s global reach and the vital role of youth in driving lasting behavioral change.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by the Secretary of the state government Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim reiterated government support to the commission with a view to addressing corrupt practices .
