President Bola Tinubu has administered the oath of office to the Chairman and two Commissioners of the National Population Commission as well as five newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretaries.
He then presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja.
After the reading of their citations, the five permanent secretaries, Abdulkarim Ibrahim, Dr John Ezeamama, Dr Abdul-Sule Garba, Dr Isiaku Mohammed and Dr Ukaire Chigbowu, took the oath of office they signed the oath register afterwards.
Dr Aminu Yusuf, whom the President named NPC Chairman on October 9, and two commissioners, including Dr Tonga Betara (Yobe), were sworn in.
The NPC is the statutory agency responsible for population censuses, vital registration and demographic data for planning.
The Council observed a minute’s silence in honour of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Joy Ogwu (2006–2007), who passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, aged 79.
FEC then convened for its eighth sitting of the year.
