The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, has led a delegation of lawmakers to Kebbi State to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the abduction of 25 schoolgirls and the killing of two persons during the recent attack.

Speaking at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, the Speaker announced a ₦30 million donation to the families of the victims.

He explained that ₦20 million will go to the family of the late Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, while ₦10 million is for the family of the gatekeeper who was also killed during the incident.

Abbas further appealed to Governor Nasir Idris to rename the affected school after the late Vice Principal, describing him as a hero who sacrificed his life to protect his students.

He said Malam Makuku’s death was a monumental loss to the community, the state, and the nation, noting his honesty, dedication, and commitment to service.

Responding, Governor Nasir Idris commended the Speaker and the House for the solidarity visit and financial support.

He pledged to “write the name of the late Vice Principal in gold” in recognition of his bravery.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted schoolgirls.
