The Katsina State Government has directed the immediate closure of all public, private and community schools across the state as part of measures to protect students from possible abductions.
This follows recent incidents of school abductions in Kebbi and Niger states.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Sani Danjuma, says the decision reflects government’s commitment to safeguarding students, teachers and all school personnel.
It acknowledges the inconveniences the closure may cause parents and students, but stresses that security remains the top priority as authorities work to strengthen safety measures in schools.
The statement urges school authorities to ensure full compliance and calls for cooperation from parents and guardians, while government and security agencies continue to monitor the situation for a possible review of the directive.
