President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on the occasion of his 68th birthday.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, he said the President joined family, friends, and political associates in celebrating Dr. Jonathan “for his contributions to nation-building and his enduring legacy of humility and statesmanship.”

President Tinubu praised the simplicity and calm leadership style of the former President, noting in particular Jonathan’s historic concession in the 2015 presidential election—an act he said strengthened Nigeria’s democracy and elevated the nation’s global standing.

The President also reflected on his interactions with Dr. Jonathan over the years, acknowledging moments of support and counsel that shaped key political milestones in 2010 and during the 2011 presidential election.

The statement further highlighted Dr. Jonathan’s growing influence on the international stage, especially in promoting democratic values and mediating political transitions across Africa.

President Tinubu prayed for continued well-being for the former President, his wife Patience Jonathan, and their family.
