Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill totaling ₦1.368 trillion to the Kano State House of Assembly.
The proposed budget allocates 68% to capital expenditure, amounting to ₦934.6 billion, and 32% to recurrent expenditure, totaling ₦433.4 billion—one of the highest capital-to-recurrent ratios in recent state history.
Governor Yusuf said the allocations reflect his administration’s development priorities, with Education receiving ₦405.3 billion (30%), Infrastructure ₦346.2 billion (25%), and Health ₦212.2 billion (16%).
He emphasized that the Economic and Social sectors remain central to the 2026 fiscal plan, with Agriculture, Security, Commerce, Water, Environment, Tourism, Women and Youth Development, and People with Special Needs also receiving substantial provisions.
The Governor described the budget as “a bold but realistic roadmap” aligned with citizens’ aspirations and urged lawmakers to grant timely approval. He stressed that legislative oversight and partnership are critical to translating the budget into tangible projects and services.
Speaker Jibril Falgore assured lawmakers’ commitment to thorough scrutiny and pledged approval to achieve the administration’s stated goals.
