Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria is set to welcome distinguished dignitaries, alumni, and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond as the ABU Alumni Association Worldwide hosts its 18th Annual General Assembly (AGA) on 28th and 29th November 2025 at the university’s main campus in Zaria.

 

The two-day gathering promises an inspiring blend of intellectual engagement, cultural performances, and strategic conversations aimed at strengthening alumni involvement in national development.

 

Activities will begin on 28th November with a Pre-AGA Lecture chaired by the Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, CON. The keynote address will be delivered by H.E. Senator Simon Bako Lalong, CON, former Governor of Plateau State, speaking on the theme: “The Role of Alumni in Promoting National Unity and Development.”

 

The Assembly will continue on 29th November with elections, networking opportunities, and vibrant cultural displays expected to deepen collaboration and reaffirm the association’s commitment to ABU’s advancement.

 

A host of prominent national figures are billed to attend, including His Excellency Senator Dr. Uba Sani, CON, Executive Governor of Kaduna State; His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, CFR, mni, Chancellor of ABU; Alhaji Dr. Yayale Ahmed, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council; and His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR.

 

This year’s AGA aims to inspire renewed dedication among ABU alumni toward supporting the institution’s growth and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s development.

 

The event will commence at 10:00 am daily, and all alumni, friends, and well-wishers are invited to be part of this significant gathering in Zaria.
