The Niger State Ministry of Education has directed that all public Secondary schools in the state be closed for two weeks.

The closure will take effect from Friday, March 12th to Friday, March 26th, 2021.

The State Commissioner of Education, Mrs Hannatu Jibrin Salihu gave the directive during an emergency consultative meeting with stakeholders in Minna.

According to the Commissioner, the directive which followed the decision earlier reached during an interface with Security Agencies in the State would give them time to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of all public secondary Schools.

Mrs Salihu restated the state government’s commitment towards ensuring that all Schools are safe for effective teaching and learning.

Twenty two secondary schools had earlier been closed in the State.
