In continuation of efforts to foster peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers, especially following the return of herders from the Niger Republic, the Kano State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr. Aliyu Isah Aliyu, has extended the ministry’s sensitization visits to Tsanyawa, Ghari, and Bichi Local Government Areas.

The visit, which forms part of the ministry’s conflict prevention and peacebuilding strategy, was carried out by a delegation led by the Director of Administration and General Services, Yahya Sani Abbas, on behalf of the Commissioner.

The team included officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), led by Deputy Commandant Abdullahi Fana, and representatives of herdsmen and farmers’ associations in the state.

During the visit to Ghari Local Government, the delegation met with the District Head, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Bayero represented by Malam Abdullahi Wakili, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Nuruddeen Hamzah, and community stakeholders.

In his remarks, the commissioner emphasized the need for all stakeholders to document and submit their concerns related to livestock development, assuring that the ministry established by the people-oriented administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was created to address the challenges facing the livestock sector.

At Tsanyawa, the delegation was warmly received by the District Head, Kaigaman Kano, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi Aminu, along with his Dagatai, Masu Unguwanni, and a large turnout of herders and farmers.

The traditional ruler praised Governor Yusuf for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development and appointing a dedicated Commissioner to lead it.

He further appealed to the state government to continue supporting the ministry and strengthen security measures to safeguard rural communities.

The NSCDC Deputy Commandant, Abdullahi Fana, also urged both herders and farmers to sustain peace and cooperation, stressing that mutual understanding was vital to Kano’s agricultural and economic growth.
