Political parties in Niger state have been advised to adhere strictly to the peace accord signed under the supervision of security agencies to ensure a hitch free Local Government Councils Election slated for this Saturday.

Chairman, Niger State Independent Electoral Commission NSIEC Mr. Jibrin Imam Gawu,  who gave the advice in Minna at the presentation of sensitive election materials, said the engagement is in line with the Commission’s commitment to transparency, accountability and promotion of public confidence in the electoral process.

Mr. Jibrin Imam assured electorates that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure that communities bedevilled by insecurity and bandit attacks,  including Internally Displaced Persons cast their votes.

He said a total of ten political parties are expected to contest in the election while result of the Chairmanship would be announced at collation centres.

On the pattern of voting system, the NSIEC chairman  said they will adopt the use of manual accreditation and not electronic.

Jibrin Imam added that all necessary election materials have been dispatched  and other material required by law for election have been delivered.
