The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and values for the benefit of future generations.

Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo stated this while briefing Newsmen as part of activities marking Kano Festival (KANFEST) 2025.

He explained that the festival aims to revive and reignite Kano’s cultural identity, connecting younger generations with the past while showcasing the state’s heritage to people within and outside Nigeria.

According to him, the Kano State Government recognizes culture not merely as a form of entertainment but as a driver of economic growth, social development, and peace building.

Comrade Gwarzo noted that the festival was organized to rediscover the traditions, creativity, and craftsmanship that have distinguished Kano for centuries, describing the state as “a beacon of civilization and scholarship.”

He noted that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to creating job and investment opportunities through cultural promotion, with the ultimate goal of positioning Kano as a global cultural destination.

On security, the Deputy Governor assured that adequate arrangements have been put in place within and around the festival venues to ensure a peaceful and successful event.

He further disclosed that prominent dignitaries, embassies, and cultural organizations, both local and international, have been invited to participate in the festival.

Comrade Gwarzo also called on the media to support the government’s efforts by providing positive coverage and sensitization, emphasizing that KANFEST is not just for Kano, but for Nigeria and the world at large.

The maiden edition of KANFEST (Kalankuwa), a grand festival celebrating arts and culture, is scheduled to hold from October 25th to 27th, 2025.
