The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced the cancellation of the planned wedding between popular TikTok comedian Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira ‘Yar Guda, following reports of disagreements and controversies surrounding the ceremony.
Confirming the development, the Deputy Commander Special Operations of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahedeen Aminuddeen Abubakar, said the decision was reached after an investigation revealed that the couple intended to proceed with the marriage as a means of avoiding pending legal issues.
Dr. Mujahedeen explained that the board decided to halt the wedding to prevent further misunderstandings and ensure peace between the parties.
“After our investigation, we discovered that the proposed marriage was not based on mutual understanding but rather an attempt to evade legal consequences. The board, therefore, resolved to cancel the wedding to avoid future conflict,” he said.
The Hisbah official added that the matter will now be referred to the appropriate court for further action.
Reports indicate that Hisbah intervened after widespread social media discussions raised concerns about certain aspects of the wedding arrangements, which were said to contradict Islamic marriage principles.
The development has generated mixed reactions online, as videos of Idris Mai Wushirya surfaced showing him admitting that he had been cautioned and had agreed to proceed with the marriage before it was eventually called off.
