Public Complaints Commission (PCC) says it is set to introduce an online portal to enable citizens lodge complaints and track the progress of their cases more efficiently.

The Chief National Commissioner, Alhaji Bashir Abubakar, disclosed this in a phone interview shortly after the Global Ombudsmen Summit and the 50th Anniversary of the Commission held in Abuja.

He explained that the digital platform will feature an automatic case-tracking system to enhance transparency, reduce delays, and provide data that will help identify systemic administrative issues across public institutions.

Alhaji Abubakar further highlighted the importance of strengthening community engagement in dispute resolution.

He said traditional institutions, elders’ forums, and community leaders should be empowered to mediate conflicts at local levels, ensuring justice remains culturally sensitive and accessible.

According to him, while communities handle local grievances, the Commission will focus on addressing broader administrative injustices and structural problems affecting the public service.

The Chief Commissioner also called for stricter security screening for public office holders, noting that integrity and accountability are essential for good governance.

He added that a merit-based system of rewards and sanctions would motivate civil servants, promote ethical conduct, and build a culture of excellence in public administration.

The theme of this year’s summit was “Effective Ombudsman Institutions: Catalyst for Good Governance.”
