Jigawa State Government has announced plans to establish small-scale industries in Gagarawa Local Government Area.

Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this while flagging off the disbursement of empowerment packages to residents of the area.

Namadi said the industries would include rice milling and other agro-based ventures aimed at creating job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the area.

He further explained that the state government will make provisions in next year’s annual budget for the construction of the Medu–Dandidi–Madaka road to ease transportation difficulties faced by people in the area.

Governor Namadi also commissioned several projects, including the Hajiya Maryam Namadi Tahfizul Qur’an School, a town hall building, and the renovated Gagarawa Central Mosque.

Over two thousand people were selected to benefit from the empowerment packages, which include seventy million naira in cash, motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines.

Other items distributed were bicycles for students, spaghetti-making machines, and the enrollment of over one hundred cattle rearers into nomadic schools.

The event was attended by the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, and other dignitaries.
