A congregation of Prominent Islamic scholars, Political figures, and community Leaders from across Northern Nigeria has converged in Kaduna for the Special Northern Ulamah Summit, aimed at finding lasting solutions to insecurity and the worsening socioeconomic challenges in the region.

The Summit focused on Strengthening Unity among Muslim clerics, Promoting responsible use of social media, and fostering collaboration between religious, traditional, and political leaders to restore peace and stability across Northern communities.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, represented by the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, urged Islamic scholars and leaders to unite in addressing insecurity, poverty, and disunity.

He cautioned against the misuse of social media to spread hatred and misinformation, emphasizing that peace and stability can only be achieved through sincere cooperation guided by Islamic teachings and collective responsibility.

In a joint message, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau and Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi warned that disunity, political manipulation, and economic hardship continue to fuel insecurity in the region.

They stressed that dialogue, tolerance, and honesty among leaders are essential to ending the cycle of violence and underdevelopment.

Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara, Senator Shehu Buba of Bauchi, and Honourable Alhassan Ado Doguwa of Kano commended the summit as timely and crucial for the unity and progress of the Ummah.

In a remark Senator Yari noted that insecurity persists largely due to poor coordination and lack of economic opportunities, while Senator Buba emphasized youth empowerment and social reforms anchored on Islamic values.

Hon. Alhassan Doguwa,Chairman of the Northern Caucus in the House of Representatives, pledged legislative support for the summit’s resolutions, assuring that the National Assembly would engage stakeholders to promote peace and development across the region.
