Retired workers of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have expressed disappointment over the delay in the payment of their arrears promised by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD.

Public Affairs Officer of the ABU Pensioners’ Association, Alhaji Muhammad Mamman, stated this while reacting to the non-payment of the arrears expected to be disbursed yesterday.

Alhaji Mamman urged the directorate to take urgent steps to resolve the issue, noting that the delay has caused untold hardship to many retirees who depend on their pensions for survival.

He called on the National Union Pensioners to adopt proactive measures against such maltreatment of the senior citizens despite their sacrifices to the nation described as unfortunate.

Investigation showed that the federal government was yet to provide twenty five billion naira balance requested by the pension transitional arrangement directorate to pay the outstanding benefits and avoid threats of naked protests.
