National Assembly has been urged to reform Nigeria’s judicial system to promote good governance and strengthen democracy.

A security expert, Retired Major Bashir Shuaibu Galma, made the call in an interview in Kaduna, expressing concern over the alleged manipulation of the judiciary by some politicians for selfish interests.

Retired Major Galma also expressed optimism that the proposed plan by lawmakers to shift presidential and governorship elections to November 2026 would achieve its intended objectives.

He, however, cautioned that the recent presidential pardon granted to 175 inmates could undermine the judiciary and worsen insecurity in the country.

The security expert further called on leaders at all levels to uphold the fear of God and demonstrate patriotism in the discharge of their duties.
