Federal Government retirees have been assured that payment of their outstanding benefits will commence next week.

National Coordinator of the Federal Pensioners’ Associations, Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lagos.

He explained that twenty billion naira out of the fifty-eight billion requested has already been released to the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, for the settlement.

Comrade Ogunbote, however, clarified that the payment does not include the twenty-five-thousand-naira palliative, which falls under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

He further revealed that an emergency meeting of the coalition would be held next week after the payment to decide on the proposed naked protest, following appeals from Federal Authorities for its suspension.

Meanwhile Chairman of the Federal Colleges of Education, Akures, Dr. Steven Fűtungi has urged Zonal offices of the retirees associations to sponsor two members for the naked protest if no payment is made as promised by the pension transitional arrangement directorate.
