Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the release of over ₦1.1 billion for key projects in the education sector, including the payment of outstanding students’ registration fees for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The State Commissioner for Higher Education Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga made this known at a Press conference held in Birnin Kebbi the state capital.
Alhaji Isah Tunga said the projects include the renovation of the Abdulsalami Nagimbana (Bush House) and Emir Haruna Rasheed Students’ Hostels at the State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, at a cost of ₦230,205,981.
Similarly, the governor approved the release of ₦251,525,000 for the procurement of essential equipment for the take-off of the newly established College of Midwifery, Ambursa, in Birnin Kebbi.
He also explained that the governor approved the release of about ₦700 million for the payment of the outstanding balance of registration fees for Kebbi State students studying across the country for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The Commissioner further stated that this clearly demonstrates Governor Idris’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality education and strengthening Kebbi State’s tertiary institutions, enabling them to compete with their counterparts nationwide.
He extend his appreciation to the governor for his timely and people – centered project, also called on students and. Citizens of Kebbi State to continue to support the present with prayers for its success in delivering quality education and good governance.
