President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Tuesday’s fire outbreak at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos Island.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said President Tinubu commiserated with the families of the victims, as well as the management and staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Capital, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, and Afriland Properties Limited.

He particularly sympathized with those who lost loved ones in the tragedy and wished the injured a quick recovery.

President Tinubu lauded the swift response of emergency agencies, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical teams, and members of the public, whose timely intervention helped in evacuating people from the affected building.

While advising greater caution, training, and vigilance to prevent such occurrences in the future, the President prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for the bereaved families.
