The Kano State Government has conveyed 588 students to 13 northern states under the Students Exchange Programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The students were transported to their respective states, which include Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba, and Nasarawa. In addition, students from Yobe, Kaduna, Sokoto, Borno, and Kwara were safely conveyed to their destinations, while another 78 students will be transported to Niger and Benue States on September 30, 2025.

Kano is one of the 19 northern states participating in the initiative, which is designed to promote national unity, integration, and cultural understanding among member states.

Briefing pressmen after the students’ departure, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, represented by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Auwal Muhammad Mustapha, reaffirmed government’s commitment to the safety and welfare of the students.

“His Excellency, the Governor, is giving us all the necessary logistics and financial support to make our work easier and to ensure that the students are transported to their respective states safely,” he stated.

Dr. Makoda also commended parents and relevant stakeholders for their cooperation and support in making the programme a success.
