The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to curbing criminal activities across the country under the leadership of its Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi
In a statement signed by the Zamfara State Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASCII Umar Mohammad, on behalf of the State Commandant, Sani Mustapha, emphasized its zero tolerance for criminal conspiracy, banditry, and other unlawful acts undermining national security.
According to the statement, the State Command, acting in line with federal and state executive orders restricting the purchase and movement of petroleum products, has intensified surveillance across urban and rural routes in the three senatorial districts of Zamfara State.
The move, it said, was aimed at cutting off supplies of fuel and food items to criminal hideouts.
It says on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, the Command paraded a suspect arrested for transporting large quantities of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) intended for Jangebe village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area — a community identified as a hub for bandit activities.
The statement maintains that, the suspect, identified as Abbas Umar, male, 40 years, was arrested by operatives of the NSCDC Divisional Office in Talata Mafara on 5th September 2025.
He was found in possession of a blue Volkswagen Golf loaded with 42 jerrycans and 3 gallons of PMS, amounting to 1,260 litres of fuel.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the products were procured from Siddi Daki Takwas Filling Station, Danbaza in Maradun Local government, without clearance or licence from the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
It says the consignment, valued at ₦1,171,800 at the rate of ₦930 per litre, was allegedly destined for Jangebe village.
The statement Further explains that, investigation linked four additional suspects to the case which are Aliyu Muhammad, 36 years, Tukur Wambai, 45 years, Abdullah Tukur, 22 years and Yahaya Said, 20 years
The NSCDC assured that all suspects will undergo thorough investigation and, upon completion, will be charged before a competent court of law.
The statement stresses that, the Corps maintains zero tolerance for criminal conspiracy, illegal economic activities, and all forms of unethical practices.
