President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved new appointments into the governing councils and leadership of recently upgraded universities of education in Kano and Zaria.
The President appointed Engineer Abdurrazaq Abubakar Nakore as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, while Professor Abdullahi Tukur Kodage becomes the Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Engineer Nakore, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, previously served as Executive Secretary of the Rural Electricity Board in Jigawa State.
Similarly, President Tinubu approved the appointment of Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure as Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education Zaria, Kaduna State.
Prof. Bunkure, a specialist in science education, is currently the Vice Chancellor of Saadatu Rimi University of Education, Kano.
The Federal Universities of Education in Kano and Zaria were among four Colleges of Education upgraded into full-fledged universities between 2022 and 2023.
In line with the institutions’ governing laws, the pro-chancellor will serve a four-year term, while the vice-chancellors will serve for five years.
