The Subcommittee on Crude Oil Theft and Prevention set up by the National Economic Council has expressed satisfaction with the increase in crude oil production being observed.

Chairman of the committee, Hope Uzodinma, gave this indication shortly after a meeting with the Governors of oil-producing states in Abuja.

He explained that the increase was a result of the collective efforts of the oil industry management, security agencies, and subnational governments from the oil-producing states.

Governor Hope Uzodinma said the meeting was convened following NEC’s request for the committee to update the council with all necessary details relating to its work on oil theft and prevention.

He explained that, as a result, the committee met this evening with critical stakeholders in the oil-producing states, the management of NNPCL, and the regulator NUPRC, and observed that the country’s crude oil production capacity has been on the increase.

Hope Uzodinma expressed satisfaction with the presentation made to the committee by the management of NNPCL and their future work plan, assuring that the committee will continue to engage with them before their next meeting.

He argued that this was meant to give the committee the opportunity to fashion out a meeting point to ensure that Nigeria begin to produce at least three million barrels a day as promised by president Bola Ahmad Tinubu.

However, he explained that the committee also jointly commended the wisdom and foresight of Mr president in making some changes in the oil industry and the close supervision he has deployed to the industry which is now yielding results.
