Centre for Girl Child Education in Nigeria has called for collaboration with the Kaduna State Government to ensure the full implementation of twelve years of free and quality education for girls in the state.

Executive Director of the Centre, Hajiya Habiba Mohammed, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Education, Professor Abubakar Sambo, in Kaduna.

She urged the government to enact a law that guarantees free education for all girls across the state.

Hajiya Habiba Mohammed also explained that the Centre is implementing an advocacy project aimed at integrating life skills components into regular school activities.

According to the Executive Director, the project also focuses on ensuring that a gender-responsive plan is in place for education across the state.

She explained that girl-child education is a multi-stakeholder responsibility and called on all Nigerians to support it.

Responding, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Professor Abubakar Sambo, expressed the readiness of the state government to partner with the Centre in promoting girl-child education.

Professor Sambo noted that the administration of Governor Uba Sani has placed priority on education, especially the education of the girl child.
