Teachers in Kwara State have been urged to embrace innovative teaching methodologies to improve classroom delivery and achieving better learning outcomes among students.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, made the call while
speaking at the opening of a two-day workshop on “Innovative Approaches to Teaching English and Mathematics for Better Learning Outcomes” held in Ilorin

He stressed the need to equip teachers with 21st-century skills that foster professionalism, enhance classroom efficiency and encourage active learner engagement.

The Commissioner noted that mastery of the English Language is essential for effective communication, while Mathematics remains the foundation of logic and scientific reasoning.

Dr. Olohungbebe explained that the training is part of deliberate efforts to align the state’s education system with acceptable standards, thereby ensuring continuous access to quality education for all.

He commended the state Governor for his unwavering investment in teachers’ development and other reforms in the education sector, noting that such initiatives have continued to raise the quality of teaching and improve learning outcomes across the state.

The commissioner urged the participants to make use of the opportunity and apply the knowledge learnt from the workshop to impart positively on their students.

Some of the participants at the workshop expressed appreciation to the state government for its strides in revamping the education sector.

They also called for the sustainability of the training programmes to enhance teacher competence and professional growth.
