Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to upgrade the Rabi’u Musa College of Remedial Studies, Tudun Wada to a College of Education, Technical and Advanced Studies.

The resolution followed a joint motion by Alhaji Sule Lawan Shuwaki (Tudun Wada constituency) and Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim (Doguwa constituency) during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

The lawmakers argued that elevating the college will reduce unemployment, leverage existing infrastructure and boost academic excellence, given the strong track record of graduates from the remedial college.

They further recalled that in 2011, a similar joint motion paved the way for the establishment of the remedial studies college, stressing that history should now record another milestone through its elevation.

After deliberations, the House unanimously adopted the motion, urging the state government to take legislative and administrative steps toward the upgrade.

Other Resolutions by the House include the renovation of Government Junior Secondary School, Rantan sponsored by Alhaji Ali Muhammad Tiga (Bebeji constituency).

The lawmaker lamented that the school, which has produced thousands of graduates, currently has only two classrooms, where both science and arts students study together.

He highlighted challenges such as inadequate teachers and poor structures, calling for urgent intervention, road rehabilitation and construction.

The House also resolved on the rehabilitation and construction of key roads, including Gawuna – Airport Road,  Gawuna – Bayan Makaranta, Sabuwar Kasuwar Gama Yusuf Bello Aliyu Roads across Kibiya Local Government Area.

This development reflects the House’s commitment to strengthening education and improving infrastructure in Kano State.
