National Assembly has been advised to review the defence pact signed between Nigeria and Israel, which has been described as unfortunate.
A former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Alhaji Umaru Dembo, gave the advice in a telephone interview from Abuja.
He emphasized the need for lawmakers to take all necessary measures to ensure that Nigeria’s security is not compromised by such an agreement, particularly in view of Israel’s continued massacre of Palestinians.
The former Minister noted that unless the defence pact is reviewed to protect the nation’s interest, what is happening in Palestine could extend to Nigeria and escalate insecurity, particularly in the Northern geopolitical zone.
Alhaji Umaru Dembo also called on Northern leaders, including socio-cultural organizations, to intensify campaigns against the renewed bilateral relationship with Israel in order to avoid unnecessary consequences.
