Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) has sealed off eight hotels in Ilorin for failing to comply with established regulatory standards governing hospitality establishments in the State.

Speaking on the development in Ilorin,the general manager of the agency,Jide Aina said the enforcement exercise followed several official notifications and warnings.

Represented by the Head of Department for Hotels, Mr. Aminullahi AbdulRahman,the general manager said that the affected establishments had been given ample time to regularize their operations but persistently ignored the Agency’s directives.

He emphasized that the action was conducted in accordance with the Kwara State Environmental Law.

Mr.Aminullah maintained that the enforcement was not aimed at intimidating any business or individual but a necessary step to curb environmental infractions and uphold public health standards.

Aina further noted that enforcing compliance within the hospitality sector will help protect residents, promote public health, and foster a welcoming environment for investors and tourists .

The general manager reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders across the hospitality industry to promote sustainable development and environmental responsibility in the State.

He also urged other hospitality operators to comply fully with environmental and operational regulations to avoid similar enforcement measures.
