The Chairman of the Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Aminu Zakari, says the committee’s tour of the 27 local government areas of the state is aimed at fostering synergy and cordial relations among stakeholders at the grassroots.

Alhaji Zakari made this known when he led members of the committee on a working visit to the Gwiwa Local Government Secretariat.

He explained that the visit provided an opportunity to assess financial and administrative documents to ensure compliance with procedures and regulations for effective local government administration.

The chairman also disclosed that sub-committees were constituted to inspect projects on-site to guarantee quality delivery and value for public spending.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Gwiwa Local Government Council, Malam Muhammad Abubakar Zakari, expressed optimism that the visit would promote prudent management of public funds and strengthen good governance at the grassroots.

He pledged full cooperation for the success of the committee’s assignment and promised to implement its advice and recommendations.

Meanwhile, two sub-committees have begun inspections of capital projects executed by Gwiwa Local Government Council between October 2024 and date.

Sub-committee A, led by Usman Abdullahi Tura Musari, inspected the renovation of Gwiwa Staff Quarters in Kazaure town, midwife quarters at Zauman Mahauta, repairs of solar-powered water schemes at Bisiyawa and Maraganta, and renovation of Guntai Juma’at Mosque and Health Clinic, as well as classroom blocks in Gallah village.

Sub-committee B, headed by Muhammad Abubakar Sa’id, visited sites for the construction of lock-up shops, market stalls, daily prayer mosques, a proposed Local Education Authority Secretariat, the new Gwiwa Primary Healthcare Center, and a solar-powered water scheme, among others.

Both sub-committee leaders commended the council for executing several projects while advising on improvements where necessary and relaying additional requests from benefiting communities.
