Federal and state governments have been urged to harness the nation’s abundant resources for sustainable development.

A former Kaduna State Accountant General, Alhaji Haruna Saeed Kajuru, made the call in an interview with Radio Nigeria Kaduna.

He noted that Nigeria is blessed with both human and natural resources, but inadequate harnessing remains a major challenge, with the government relying heavily on oil.

Alhaji Haruna Saeed Kajuru stressed that agriculture alone has the potential to sustain the nation’s economy. He therefore appealed to all tiers of government to accord top priority to security in order to boost the agricultural sector.

Commenting on tomorrow’s bye-election taking place in several parts of the country, he advised voters to elect credible leaders who will protect their interests rather than selfish politicians.
