The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested forty nine male suspects in connection with various drug-related offenses during a large-scale operation conducted across Kano on August 7 and 8, 2025.

The operation led to the seizure of significant quantities of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, pregabalin, diazepam, codeine syrup, rohypnol, “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, and locally made weapons.

Raids were carried out at known drug hotspots, including Massallacin Idi, Fagge Plaza, Kofar Mata, Kofar Wambai, Kofar Dan’agundi, Makabartar Dan’agundi, Ladanai, Zage, and Tashar Rimi at Rimi Market.

In a bid to curb rising incidents of drug abuse, loss of life, and property damage, the command also stormed Kano Line Motor Park and Tashar Rami Motor Park in Na’ibawa, arresting more than fifteen suspects.

The Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, ACGN A.I. Ahmad, explained that the crackdown is part of an ongoing initiative to dismantle drug joints and disrupt trafficking networks within the state.

“Since our upgrade to strategic command status, the scope and impact of our operations have significantly improved. We remain determined to bring all drug traffickers to justice,” Ahmad stated.

He commended the Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), for his visionary leadership and unwavering support, which he described as instrumental to the success of the operations.

The NDLEA warned all those involved in drug-related crimes to desist, pledging continued efforts towards a drug-free society.

Investigations into the arrests are ongoing, with offenders to face full prosecution.
