The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kano State Chapter, has organised a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training for personnel of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) as part of efforts to reduce road accident fatalities across the state.

The training, held at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), brought together over fifty KAROTA operatives for hands-on sessions on emergency response, CPR, and basic first aid.

Speaking during the session, NMA Chairman, Dr. AbdulRahman Ali, called for stronger collaboration between the association and the Kano State Government to institutionalize such life-saving training across all relevant agencies.

“This initiative is aimed at reducing preventable deaths during road accidents, both within and outside Kano metropolis,”.

“We are ready to extend this training to agencies like HISBAH, the State Fire Service, Vigilante groups, and the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).”

He commended the state government for its continued support and assured that the NMA remains committed to contributing meaningfully to the development and safety of the people of Kano State.

Also speaking at the event, Deputy Managing Director of KAROTA, Auwalu Aramposu, expressed appreciation to the NMA for their commitment to improving emergency response skills among the agency’s personnel.

“We are grateful to the NMA for this timely training. I urge all beneficiaries to apply their knowledge effectively to save lives on our roads,” Alamposu said.

He also acknowledged the Kano State Government for its moral and financial support to KAROTA and assured that the agency will continue to enforce road laws professionally and without bias.
